How is Sonday Produce organic?
Our poultry is all certified organic by the Midwest Organic Services Association. MOSA is accredited by the U.S. Department of Agriculture to certify agriculture as organic, following a strict set of rules that ensure Sonday Produce is the best chicken available. For more information about MOSA, you can visit their website. USDA organic standards are the strictest food production standards in the world. Our farm and processing plant is regularly inspected to ensure even and continued quality. Organic chicken means our poultry have:
- Eaten 100% certified organic feed all their lives.
- Lived on land not touched by synthetic fertilizer or pesticides for well over the minimum three years.
- Been free to act naturally, eating bugs, scratching, and living outdoors with companions.
- Never been injected or fed antibiotics, hormones, vaccinations, synthetic chemicals, or synthetic pesticides.
Is "organic" the same as "natural" and "free-range"?
Companies like to advertise their products as "natural" in an effort to make you think that means it is better than mass-produced, chemically injected food. However, the word, in the agriculture and food industry, really means nothing because it is not tied to any standards. Any company can use that word in their advertising and product packaging. It is the same with the term "free-range." However, the word "organic" is only allowed for companies that follow strict USDA standards and inspections for true organic produce.

Is organic poultry safe to eat?
Organic poultry is absolutely safe, much more so, in fact, than the normal products you buy in the supermarket. It is held to much higher standards for growth, inspection, and processing. Our chickens are not tainted by animal byproduct, injected with man-made chemicals, diseased, or mass-produced. They are grown carefully and in small quantities, with personal attention to every detail by us, their growers. You can absolutely trust organic for better health.

Why is this so good for me?
Organic chicken is delicious and nutritious for several reasons.
- It is high in protein, low in fat.
- There are no artificial chemicals. This means your body has less junk to process through, and more nutrition to fuel itself.
- Organic chicken is high in omega-3 fatty acids. These are essential to a good diet, and can only be obtained through healthy foods.
- It is rich in selenium, zinc, niacin, betacarotene, and Vitamins E, B6 and B12.
- Poultry allowed access to the outdoors has 21% less total fat, 30% less saturated fat, 28% fewer calories, 50% more vitamin A, and 100% more omega-3 fatty acid than poultry not allowed outdoor access ( Source: USDA Sustainable Agriculture & Research Education Program).
