Farm
Having farmed my whole life on a century-old farm except for three years as operations manager of Ortho Molecular Products, Inc., a vitamin, nutrient supplement company, I have run the gamut of operating in corporate agriculture for the production of commercial vegetables. Such vegetables were heavily commercially fertilized and chemically-applied. I've also rubbed shoulders with some of the most learned men and women in the vitamin industry, and now have come to raise certified organic chicken and beef. From my experience and research, I am convinced that "we are what we eat." Many of today's health problems are directly linked to America's food chain. Why are diseases like Type II diabetes, coronary heart disease, altzheimer's, SIDS, autism, child obesity, ADD, and others rising at alarming rates. These are all multifaceted problems, but the food chain is a major component. This company's purpose is not to fix the political, social, spiritual, and environmental upheavals of the world. We start where our gifts reside: stewarding the resources God has given.
Our family farm grows 100% organic poultry, certified by the Midwest Organic Services Organization and inspected and licensed by the Wisconsin Department of Agriculture. Our chickens are free-range, meaning that they live outdoors on land that has been free of insecticides, fertilizer, and any artificial additives for at least three years. They are free to scratch in the dirt and eat bugs, rather than kept in sterilized, ammonia-laden poultry barns away from sunlight with tens of thousands of their feathered inmates. Our poultry eat organic food and have never been vaccinated or injected with hormones or conventional medicines.
We operate the only certified organic, state-inspected poultry processing plant in Wisconsin. The only people who touch our chickens are the hatchery workers, us, and you, our customer. There are not hundreds to thousands of miles between farm, processor, manufacturer, wholesale warehouse, retailer, and you. It's from our farm to your kitchen. It doesn't get any simpler than that.
Our processing facility is located at the northwest corner of Highways Q and 54. It is a small farm with a light blue house and white barn around the back. The poultry farm is between Waupaca and Stevens Point, just off Highway 10. Call for specific directions, and click on "Contact Us" at left for the phone number.
Family
Our family has always lived in the countryside near Stevens Point, Wisconsin. When we outgrew our ranch home, we moved to the family farm five miles away and began collecting animals. After the first few years of raising our own chickens, we decided to fill a niche for organic, home grown chicken and poultry processing. Sonday Produce is just an outgrowth of our simple lifestyle, one we enjoy sharing with others.
